mime-support software package provides MIME files mime.types & mailcap, and support programs, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mime-support
mime-support is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mime-support package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mime-support *
You will get with mime-support package name, version, architecture and description in a table
